The findings from last Wednesday’s Community Forum came as no surprise to most. Number one priority – Footpaths. Another top ranking priority included protecting the heritage of Hahndorf – for example, ensuring new developments contribute to the heritage feel of Hahndorf.
Other strong priorities were parking, the return of a Visitor Information Centre, and the maintenance of creeks throughout the town. Other suggestions, less strongly supported but still important, were environmental protection, street lighting, sealing Fairview Road, and lobbying for a bypass and main street upgrade. With respect to parking, there was strong agreement that more parking officers be deployed to Hahndorf to ensure compliance with parking restrictions.
The results from the forum will be considered by Council along with priorities from Hahndorf businesses, the National Trust and the Institute Committee. A consolidated top 10 priorities for everyone in Hahndorf will be included in the new Town Prospectus.
A special thanks to our forum facilitator, Susanne Koen, from Mylor, and the Hahndorf residents who attended to provide vital feedback on issues of importance to our town.
